From the Beginning

Now, a restaurant that serves the genuine quality katsu is arrived in Richardson, Texas.

Why Bulldog?

The French bulldog is a symbolic and beloved dog in France, where the katsu(cutlet) originated.

Also, at around the same time as the katsu became familiar in japan in the late 1920’s, bull-dogs started to become popular pets.

Therefore, so as to be loved by many people in the same way the katsu and the pet dogs are, the name “bulldog katsu” was adopted.

What does katsu mean?

The word “katsu”, which is an abbreviated form of “katsuretsu”, is a transliteration of the English word “cutlet”, which again was derived from the French “cotelette”.
Katsu is made by deep frying slices of meat coated in beaten eggs, flour, and panko ( Japanese bread crumbs ).
